Brinks, a fellow brony, has a friend who volunteers with the Peace Corps. She is currently deployed in a small village called Jargalant town, in the Orkhon region of Mongolia working with the community to continue to development the Jargalant 12-year Secondary School.
This school operates as a hybrid public/boarding school that not only provides educational services to local, rural communities surrounding the school, but also provides dormitories to students who live too far away to realistically commute to school during the academic year.
However, the dormitories, like other dwellings in region, lack access to a reliable source of warm running water. Not only that, but the current shower-fixtures in the school are broken, and require replacement.
Although there is shower house in region that does provide hot showers to the local populace, children still have to pay 1300 tugrugs ($1 U.S) just to take a hot shower. For students, this equates to almost a full week’s allowance, and thus remains an unpractical option when considering other expenses such as food and school materials.
Therefore, Laura has taken upon herself to raise $420.00 U.S.D to purchase a a new, industrial grade water boiler, with all attachments and fixtures, for installation in the dormitory washroom.
