Seeds of Kindness: A Healing Touch

Canterlot Food-flight

Everypony knows that undernourishment is a universal fact in every community we inhabit, regardless of wealth, ethnicity, or place. However, food donations to food kitchens , banks and other organizations that feed the poor have been slowly declining over the past few years with troubling economic times, while the need for donations continues to climb. In the hope of relieving a bit of stress on local food charities around our local communities, we ask all of you out there to help us make the holidays a little brighter for some people out there with empty bellies.

Even though this action is takes the form of a can drive, canned foods or vegetables are not the only things you can donate. Food organizations are always looking for anything that has a good shelf life that is nutritious and nourishing. So for reference, here’s a list of items in high demand:

-Canned Meats (beef, chicken, tuna)
-Peanut Butter (plastic jars only, glass is too easy to shatter)
-Dried/Canned beans (pork & beans, pinto, kidney, black)
-Hearty soup (pop-top cans preferred)
-Meals in a box or can (beef stew, chili, mac & cheese)
-Canned fruits (fruit cocktail, raisins, applesauce)
-Canned vegetables (green beans, carrots, corn)
-Cereals and grains (rice, pasta, cereal in a box or bag)
-Fruit and vegetable juice (100% juice preferred)
-Dry milk (instant non-fat)

These items listed are just some of the things needed by most food banks and the like. However, if you want to maximize the support that you offer, make sure to check in with your local charity to see what they need most. That way, you can fill essential deficit’s in the diet that food organizations are trying to provide or supplement.

We look forward to hearing from everpony as we kick off our next big drive, so good luck to everypony and lets show the world the full extent of the love and generosity that this community can accomplish this holiday season!
